The Maddox Family Invites the members of the Fort Worth Model ‘A’ Ford Club to A Celebration of the Life of Marilyn Maddox

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Kay (Smith) Maddox of Fort Worth, Texas on December 6, 2023, at the age of 78.

George Maddox has asked volunteers to bring chips or deserts to Marilyn’s Celebration of Life on March 9th. If you would like to volunteer please call Mary at 817-237-1589.

Marilyn Kay MaddoxShe was born April 25, 1945 in Rupert, Idaho to Dott Edward Smith, a US Army Colonel and Mary Grace (Leftwich) Smith, an English teacher.

Marilyn moved to Texas with her family where she graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a masters degree in English. During her 30-year teaching career she taught high school English for the Arlington public school system and retired in 2000. Marilyn married George Lester Maddox on June 14, 1978 and became a beloved family member and stepmother to Shelly Diane Maddox (9) and Misty Lynn Maddox (7). George and Marilyn lived in Fort Worth, Texas and were active members of the Fort Worth Model “A” Ford Club, traveling the states for many years and creating unforgettable memories until her passing. She was a collector of many things, and especially loved butterflies and Blenko glass.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Charles Kirby Smith.

Survivors: Husband, George Maddox of Fort Worth; stepdaughters, Shelly Blevins and Misty Dutton, both of Fort Worth; four granddaughters; and ten great-grandchildren.
